Rules of Thumb
Five simple rules to follow that will result in success.
A Form is a web page object consisting of selections/entries that allow a Visitor to provide information about themselves. For a complete definition of a template, see the
Glossary.
With respect to Landing Pages and Microsites, a Template is a base page definition that serves as a general pattern for many web pages. For a complete definition of a template, see the
Glossary.
A page contains your content and forms, making them accessible to your costumers. Using OnDialog's simple editing features creating your pages is a breeze. For a complete definition of a page, see the
Glossary.
In its most simplified form a Microsite is a collection of Landing Pages to collectively convey either a promotional concept. For a complete definition of a template, see the
Glossary.
A target market is a specific subset of potential site visitors defined by a rule based on PURL Data fields and values. For a complete definition of a template, see the
Glossary.
Targeted content is web page content to be displayed whenever a site visitor's PURL Data matches a corresponding target market. For a complete definition of a template, see the

1) Don't mistake "simple and easy" for "trivial."
- OnDialog LP is a powerful tool.
- You can build your first landing page in 10 minutes or less, but you will have used only about 10% of the tool's power.
2) Take the time up front.
- To learn how to achieve desired results quickly - you will increase your ROI from the very start.
- To think about the end-product of any project - don't "design on the fly."
3) Start simple - if your first "practice" projects are overly complex or rely on a large creative effort, you will get bogged down in details.
4) Look for shortcuts.
- Can you re-use existing layouts, templates, forms, media/creative?
- Can you create a new template backdrop from a single image?
- Can you "borrow" style from an existing web site?
5) Practice makes perfect.
